GrudgeMU (Slow Poison)

The setup was easy as ever - downloaded the client from GrudgeMU (that's the server I use for playing), installed it (takes practically no time), chose a character and started training.

First, shortly, about the game.

It is a MMORPG - massively multiplayer online roleplaying game - which basically means millions of people pretend they are knights or faeries for some certain time of their life and click on mouse buttons to "rise xp" or stuff like that.
Your task is to develop your character by enhancing his experience. And of course you get experience by battling monsters or other players (although you won't do that in the beginning, I'll explain later).

So the first thing we do is CHOOSING A CHARACTER
I play season 3 episode 2 on Grudgemu, and on season 3 we have one extra character - summoner.
Character List:

Dark Knight - The most popular char in the game and also the easiest to play with. A typical warrior, has the best armours and is the classic "killing machine". A brilliant char and probably the best to start with. Dark Knight can evolve into Blade Knight and then into Blade Master (after completing game quests)

Dark Wizard - that's a char for those who wish to see "cool stuff" happening on the screen. No armour/equipment for this guy, just spells (and staffs to empower their magic) and skills.

The Fairy Elf - the weakest of them all. Probably most suitable for girlfriends of those lucky guys whose lady friend has agreed to play MU with them. Though this is probably the most beautiful character in the game with gorgeous equipment and breathtakingly beautiful wings (on wings later)

The Summoner - basically a witchy chick. Can cast summons and has a few new spells, but possibly not the strongest of characters.

So these are the starting chars, for a noob I would recommend a dark knight, since it's the easiest one to level up and you don't need to think much about the game, just kill.
The two unlockable chars:

Magic Gladiator - my undoubted favourite. In this char, both dark knight and dark wizard are combined which means you are good in all armours, spells, skills, etc.... Not to mention, there is the coolest skill ever for Magic Gladiator - fire slash. Be sure to check it out... And of course, a sinister knight with crimson hair looks so unbelievably flashy that it cannot leave your heart cold.
This is my playing character as well and, well, I can say for sure it is the best of them all. It is a lot faster, evolves quicker, plus if you get a level up, you get 7 points instead of 5 like the other classes. Magic Gladiator has a special set of wings - wings of darkness, and they sure do rock.

NB!!! If you constantly get error "Name taken or bad name" when trying to create a character, please note that you cannot create a Magic Gladiator unless you have a character who has reached level 220!!!

That is why I recommend starting from dark knight, that makes it notably easier to handle the magic gladiator later.

Dark Lord - Advanced version of dark wizard.Probably the most difficult char to play with, but if you can handle it - a great enemy. Basically does very high damage, has many skills and spells and takes care of two pets. Now but to call them "pets" is the same as to throw a sausage to Kerberos and say "here, doggy-doggy". He commands Dark Spirit and Dark Horse.

NB!!! The Dark Lord unlocks after reaching level 250 with one of your characters.

To close up the character choosing section, I will provide a pic of my characters the way they are at the moment. On the picture you will see two trained characters and two basic characters (this means, just the way they are in the beginning of the game, with no accessories, skills, weapons etc).So the first one is the dark knight, he is well equipped and also has WINGS.
The second one is the magic gladiator who is even better in the field of equipment and possesses Wings of Darkness (these glowing blue thingies)
The guy with white hair is a dark lord-noob and beside him, the fairy elf.

I called my characters: Alistaire, my favourite male name
Emeralde, my favourite gem stone
OnyxSilver, Onyx for the dark side and Silver for his hair
MarbleDawn, cause she looks like that

AFTER PICKING THE CHARACTER

So now you must begin the gameplay. You start from Lorencia (unless you are a fairy, then you go straight to Noria). Basically you can try to kill someone, if you can't, no problem, after you die you get redirected into the city. If you go inside the building there is a bar. You can click on the maid there which will open a merchant window - you are going to use that a lot in the game.
You can stroll and wander for as long as you want, in the city nobody can hurt you. There are loads of people trying to trade with you. You're a noob so you don't have anything, but you can say that you are new - sometimes there are nice people who give you items or zen (that's the MU currency). For example, I got loads of help with my 2nd stage wings and also skills from a user "wildcrash" - credit to you :)

Surely there are loads of other users as well, who are willling to help you. Nevertheless, always be cautious, especially when trading. Think it through and ask more experienced users for help, if you don't know whether everything is correct. If you doubt in something or something makes you feel incomfortable, take a screenshot (prnt screen) and post it on a board or send it to some admins.

GETTING A TRAINER

Now the first suggestion would be getting a trainer. If you started to play MU because a friend recommended it, I'm sure the friend will agree to help and train you. Why is that good for you? Let me explain.
The aim of the game is to get more stats (strength and speed and so on) by getting more experience. When you complete certain amount of experience, you gain a level. When you gain a certain amount of levels, you can move on to higher maps where there are stronger monsters which give you more experience. When you reach level 400, you have to reset your character and you start from 0 again, only you get to keep your equipment and also 500 stat points. The next time you reach 400 levels and reset, you get additional 500 stat points etc... So someone with 220 resets is already very powerful and possesses many skills and good weapons. Now they can move on to PvP servers where players kill each other, not monsters.

If you start playing on your own, getting experience and actually, getting a clue of what the hell is going on, can prove to be rather difficult or time-consuming. If you have a trainer ( a friend who has played MU before) or someone you have found online, they will form something that is called a PARTY. If you PARTY with someone, it means you get shared experience. In other words, he has played longer, has more exp, can kill stronger beasts, and you sit beside him and watch the exp tick. After a while, you can continue playing on your own, but to quickly herd together good stat points and items, partying with someone is irreplaceable.
Not only because of the easy exp you get, but also because of the ITEMS.

ITEMS

In order to become more powerful, you need items. If you kill a monster, they drop items. Don't pick all of them, since not all of them are useful. You can sell the useless items to the merchants and put the more valuable one in the vault (this is also how you can switch items between your chars). In order to purchase items you need zen, and you get zen when it is dropped by monsters.

In the very beginning of the game, go out of the town from the east gate. There are tiny spiders there, start clicking them with your mouse. They should die. When they die, you can see them either dropping items or zen. Collect what you want by clicking on it.

Go back into the town - nobody can hurt you there. Type "I", which opens your inventory. Each item takes a certain number of squares. You must be attentive to keep your inventory clean, otherwise you might lose a valuable item. If you get "armour" or a good weapon, move your mouse across it, you should see an info box. That tells you whether you have enough stats to wear/use the item.
Apples & potions are for using them if your life is low (that's the red gem in the bottom of the screen).
Jewels are used to upgrade weapons, jewel of chaos is used in the chaos machine. You are going to need that for wings, later.
Orbs and scrolls give you skills. Some skills require a certain level to be equipped, some require a certain class. Sell the orbs and scrolls you cannot use and equip others by clicking it with the right mouse button.
Upgrade your weapons constantly. The stronger you attack, the stronger monsters you can kill. Also, check out if the weapons give you some extra skills or if they are somehow special.
Rings are good, they give you resistance towards certain things or just make you stronger. Wear them, but toss the beginning ones after level 80 or so. By that time, you should have better rings already.
Theme items (like devil's eye, devil's key, sign of lord etc) need to be collected in order to get access to certain events or worlds. For example, the devil-theme items give you a Devil's Invitation if you combine the eye, the key and a jewel of chaos in the chaos machine.

CHAOS MACHINE AND CREATING WINGS

So finally we have come to the wing-making part. I know that from the first moment you ever stood on the soil of MU, you envied all the knights and elves with their glittering wings. Well, it is not that difficult to get them, so you can give it a try (though you need to have a certain level for that, which you will, since you need to possess a few items first, and in order to do that, you have to kill beasts).

So, first you must bear in mind which race you are. If you are a dark knight, there is no possibility for you to get pretty fairy wings. If you are a fairy, you cannot get black satan wings. Nevertheless, you must note that if you go to the chaos machine, there is no guarantee that you will actually get the wings, or that if you do, they are suitable for your race. So good luck!

The first thing you will need is a Jewel of Chaos. You can obtain this from killing beasts, but beasts, not worms or crap like that. That means you should already have a few maps unlocked. Devias3 is a good map for items, but you should have strength and skill. You better have two Jewels of Chaos, you're gonna need it.

The "recipe" for wings is one Jewel of Chaos, one item over +4 (you can buy these at shops, for example at Devias) and then a Chaos Weapon. This brings us to why you needed two jewels. First, you must create a Chaos Weapon. You do that in the same place where you make wings. Basically there are chaos machines in other worlds as well, but I prefer to use Devias. The Chaos Goblin in situated in the middle of Devias, next to the christmas tree. You click on him and Chaos machine opens.
Put the items in the machine and activate it. After waiting for a while, you either receive your new wings, or you won't.

This is as far as I'll go with explaining the game - from here on, everybody should be comfortable playing.
It is difficult to give this game a rating, since it doesn't really wield any storyline or such. It is MMORPG, and a nice one. Give it a shot for sure
